With this project, we are expanding our presence in Rio Grande do Sul, where we already operate the Interligação Elétrica Sul. It will contribute to the flow of energy in the Southern Region and enhance the quality of service in the mountainous region of the state.
The project was awarded in Transmission Auction No. 02/19.
Why is the project called Minuano?
The Minuano wind, or simply Minuano, is the wind that typically affects the Brazilian states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and Paraná. It is a cold wind of polar origin (from the Atlantic polar air mass), coming from the southwest, and is sometimes also classified as cutting. It occurs after the passage of cold fronts in autumn and winter, usually following rain.
Its name derives from the Minuanos, an indigenous group that inhabited the southern fields of the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
