Overview

Energy transition is a reality in Brazil, which stands out on the world stage as a great producer of renewable energy (hydroelectric, wind, solar) and is on its way to becoming the front runner of this movement. In this scenario, the energy transmission sector holds a crucial role: connect the growing supply of wind and solar energy in the North-Northeast to the demand concentrated in the Southeast, Center and South of the country.

We are committed to ensuring that the renewable energy arrives at the largest number of destinations as possible, with safety and reliability. We're more than just a transmission company, we are making transition possible.

  • Over 80% Of energy produced in Brazil is from a renewable network (hydro, solar, wind)
  • There is a need to increase the reliability of flexible networks

Without transmission there is no transition

The new renewable sources are not transmittable - the power generators cannot be connected or disconnected according to demand. It is therefore necessary to come up with solutions to overcome its variability and to guarantee safety and stability of the service. Furthermore, a robust transmission infrastructure is needed to guarantee that the energy generated is efficiently and cleanly transported to the large consumer and industrial centers.

We are investing to accelerate the transition

In order to be the protagonists in energy transition in Brazil, we have accelerated the construction and installation of projects to take advantage of the potential of renewable energy in Brazil. Through various initiatives, we are exploring growth opportunities and the application of new technologies in our sector.

Our objective is to broaden and accelerate the flow of this energy, guaranteeing reliability of supply for the electrical sector. To do this we work on three fronts:

Ícone Competitividade Strengthening competitivity
  • To advance the acquisition of new business we invest in innovation, in development of new technologies and in the constant increase in operational efficiency
Ícone Infraestrutura Paying special attention to infrastructure
  • We are looking to guarantee a robust electrical infrastructure resilient to extreme weather events, which may well become more common.
Ícone transformação Transform the electrical sector
  • We aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) and mitigate the impact of climate change.

Pioneering and innovation

One of the main challenges to consolidate energy transition is the impossibility of controlling the variability of wind and solar generators. Therefore, the capacity of storing energy in batteries on a large scale for use on demand is one of the central issues for the electrical sector. We are pioneers in this field and, in 2020, launched the first project for the storage of energy on a large scale, at the Registro Substation (SP)

Rui Chammas – Director President of ISA ENERGIA BRASIL “We are a company that serves society and generates sustainable value. We play a key role in energy transition by permitting the safe and reliable integration of renewable energy. We do this by going beyond the mere delivery of quality energy, but also by working in an ethical, sustainable, innovative and profitable manner.” Watch the video

The fight against climate change is a central theme in the management of our business

We have designed our climate strategy on two fronts: mitigation, with the aim of continuously reducing and offsetting emissions stemming from our operations; and adapting to climate change, with contingency plans in extreme events, and plans for adaptation and increased resilience that prepares the infrastructure for future scenarios.
