Jaguar Parade, in partnership with ISA CTEEP, extends registration for artists to join the exhibition
- Those interested can apply until February 28
- Cultural event will raise funds and raise awareness of the urgent need to conserve jaguars and their habitat
The international movement Jaguar Parade, which is sponsored by ISA CTEEP - largest private energy transmission company in the country – extended registration until February 28 for artists to submit their customization ideas for the sculptures that will compose the second edition of the event, which this time will have international prominence.
Professional and amateur artists can register through the event's official website (www.jaguarparade.com). The event's curators will select 40 projects that will be executed by the artist himself and will be exposed in São Paulo (BR) in June and New York (USA), between September and October next year, during the 77th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).
This edition highlights the possibility for artists to submit digital artwork, which will be auctioned off as NFTs (Non-Fungible Token) to raise funds for jaguar preservation. In addition, at the end of the event, sculptures will be auctioned, and all proceeds will be allocated to projects for the preservation of the species and its habitat in various Latin American countries.
The cause
Jaguar plays a key ecological role in the balance of ecosystems, protecting biodiversity, waters and forests, as well as ensuring the survival of the species that coexist with it and their associated habitats.
The feline is present in 18 American countries, but in the last 100 years its population has been reduced by almost half. It is estimated that 4.5 jaguars per 100 km2 are living in the Amazon, in protected areas, and 2.5 in unprotected areas.
This is why, aiming to preserve the species and its habitat, ISA CTEEP, together with technical allies South Pole and Panthera, developed the Jaguar Connection Program, which aims to promote the conservation of biodiversity and the mitigation of climate change through the implementation of forestry projects in priority areas for the protection, restoration and connection of the jaguar's habitat and corridors. In 2020, the project was recognized as the best corporate program for offsetting emissions by the Environmental Finance Awards ranking.
The program was launched in Brazil in 2019 and contributes to protect and preserve biodiversity in over 76 thousand hectares in Serra do Amolar region, in Pantanal, in partnership with Instituto Homem Pantaneiro (IHP). This region covers the states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, in addition to bordering Bolivia and Paraguay.
“We are proud of this initiative, because Jaguar Connection seeks to generate positive impacts and reduce about 2 million tons of potential CO2 equivalent on the planet by 2030 on the planet by 2030, as well as promoting awareness against deforestation, arson, illegal hunting, and pollution, actions that directly affect the preservation of biodiversity and a balanced ecosystem for the survival of these animals”, explains Ana Carolina David, Communication and Sustainability manager at ISA CTEEP.
The event is sponsored by the company, through investments under the Culture Incentive Law.
